Paterson Family

The Paterson family was my last family session of the 2022 season, and what a show-stopper it turned out to be. As is typical in November, weather forced us to reschedule a few times but we finally ended up with the perfect afternoon. A little chilly, but oh that sunset – just what Erika envisioned!

Even when there’s a beautiful sunset and a bright red barn (two of my favorite things!) I love converting images to black and white. I feel like it really allows the story to come through – focuses your attention on the interactions, the textures, the emotions. I was excited to hear Erika also shares a love for black and white images too, so we mixed in a lot of those options as well.

Once the boys had had enough, we sent them off and took a moment to capture just Erika and Rob together.

As I was wrapping up editing, I recalled having similar images from their wedding I captured, just about 9 years previously. I had to share…

Welcome Baby Charlotte

A few months back, I photographed Mik and Dan’s Maternity photos. On her due date, Mik went into labor and delivered Ms. Charlotte to the world! Her curly little hair and smooshy cheeks, I couldn’t get enough of this little lady!

Mom and dad are so in love with their little princess…

Expecting Baby Morin

After returning from their “babymoon” to the Florida Keys, Mik and Dan wrapped up their vacation week with a maternity session at one of our local favorites.

Look at this mama glow!

So happy for these two, can’t wait to meet baby girl!

Baby Moon

After photographing their 2020 wedding, I was excited to hear from Shannon again to capture maternity portraits for her and Jacob. If you’re familiar with New England, you know one thing you can count on in February- COLD! Thankfully, we were able to escape the frigid temperatures and wind by securing a reservation at Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston, MA.

Maternity Collage - THBG

We were fortunate enough to visit during PRISMATIC, An Orchid Exhibition in which they had over 1,400 colorful orchids and art installations on display. It was absolutely beautiful.

Congratulations again Jake and Shannon, looking forward to hearing of Baby Moon’s arrival!

Sweet twin girls

So excited to add a check on my photography bucket list… NEWBORN TWINS!! ::squeals::

I’m so happy to share their grand reveal photos with you! Scarlet and Abigail were just shy of 3 weeks young when I had the pleasure of photographing them back in July. I’m so happy to share their grand reveal photos!

Scarlet snoozed through most of her photos, but Abigail was a little more camera shy. When we placed her back to snuggle with her sister, she settled right in and we got these adorable gems:

Aren’t they just the sweetest? Congratulations to mom and dad, I am so happy for you!

A Beach Session…

Cyra grew up on the beaches of the Cape, and has loved creating memories there with her own kids. Last week, I had the pleasure of photographing their family at one of their favorite spots in Sandwich, MA. Even with the crazy wind rolling in, we were able to capture some gorgeous images.

Reece turns one

I met Joyce and Max when I photographed their wedding last month, and this week I had the pleasure of taking family photos in celebration of their daughter’s first birthday! Little Reece was shy at first, but a few handfuls of blackberries was all it took to change her mood 🙂 I love all the little moments we were able to capture of their sweet family. EmeryReece-29

Addie’s 18 month session

On almost every photo shoot with parents of young ones, mom ends up getting stressed out with her child’s behavior. She has this vision of a smooth photo shoot with beautiful photos of her child, in their adorable little outfit, and then the session comes and what she sees during the shoot is her very active, “uncooperative”, busy child running around and it seems unlikely that we’re getting any good shots. I always assure mom that all shoots with little ones go like this. I repeat ALL SHOOTS GO LIKE THIS! I’m usually running around after them, looking I’m sure like some kind of lunatic making all these crazy noises and jumping around to get their attention. When the family’s images are ready, I’m usually met with responses along the lines of “oh my goodness these are beautiful, I thought for sure we’d have nothing, I love them!”

To illustrate this point, I’d like to share all the outtakes from today’s shoot with my 18 month old daughter, Addison. Let me tell you, she is one of the BUSIEST children I have ever met, and certainly a challenge when I’m trying to take them without some there to assist with child wrangling, but she did come and give me kisses between almost every photo, so it did come with it’s own benefits as well 😉

These are because I took her socks off to see her cute little piggies – she was trying to mimic the silly noises I was making at her to distract her from her feet and get a smile out of her:

A few weeks ago, Addison learned a new dance at daycare that includes “up and down, up and down” and that seems to be the theme of her life every day since:

Keeping anything in her hair to keep her bangs out of her face is a tall task, so half the shoot was spent trying (unsuccessfully) to get her to stop trying to take off her headband. I tried distracting her from its existence by asking where her belly was (I should have known better) and the next few pictures were spent trying to convince her to keep her shirt on:

And then finally, her dancing (aka jumping up and down again) and then laying on the floor to play “nu-nights”

While not all of these are “canvas on the wall” worthy, I love how much her crazy little personality shines through in this series. I know years from now the memories will fade, which is why I will be ordering all of these for our family photo albums, so someday when Addison has crazy children, I can remind her where they get it from 😉

Finally, here are my favorite “frame-worthy” images from our session:

Joyce and Max Celebration

Joyce and Max were married in a small ceremony this past December, and this weekend I had so much fun capturing the celebration with their friends and family at the Medfield American Legion. See some of my favorites below, and if you want to order any prints from their party, ask the couple for the password to their online gallery!
